This keeping on task is difficult . . .

Mockingbird
Can't believe that another day has gone bye.  Wow, time just floats away.  P&D's Pop and I went to measure some baseball fields at Independence Park in Baton Rouge to see if their October contest can still take place there.  The powers that be decided to tear out the control line flyers main circle and now they're looking into how they can best accommodate the contest using the outfields if the measurements are right.  What a pain in the derriere. I really hope the "club" can get permission to have the regularly scheduled contest in the same park they've used for many years. Hard to believe that BREC just tore their flying space apart without even telling them. It's politics as usual in Red Stick.  Gotta know someone who knows someone who can put the squeeze on someone.

Will finally finish most of my doctoring appointments tomorrow - a kidney x-ray.  It's precautionary as Dr. Smither did not find anything wrong with my other tests but she thinks I was born with my kidney's not quite where they should be - nothing to be done about it - she just wants to see if she's right!  (I think - and besides I have insurance.)  Oh well, I guess I can humor them since I'll be living down here for my forever!)

Still finding if difficult to not just sit on the back porch and enjoy the peaceful days and evenings here in Louisiana.  I feel guilty that I'm not doing a lot of scrubbing, running around, and just keeping busy doing some sort of chores.  But I can't believe how easy it is to get nothing accomplished and actually enjoy it.  Wow, I'm a degenerate.

Trying to keep up . . .

Cormorants
I've been finding it difficult to keep up with my blog. Somehow or other the days just keep rushing by and I can't seem to get a written word in edgewise. We went to our regular Tuesday iHop breakfast which is really great because I have two eggs over medium and a side of Swedish Crepes. The crepes are covered in Lingonberries and Lingonberry butter. Wow, it's my new favorite until I decide I need a change. After breakfast we went to a park in Walker so P&D's Pop could get in some flying and I could do my walking. It's a great place to walk - a huge park with all kinds of sports fields and a nice little pond where you can go fishing off of the pier or just cast from around the edges. You can catch catfish, sac o lait  or crappies and even rainbow trout! They stock the trout in the Winter because the water gets cold but they can't live in the summer. I was able to get some great pictures of a couple of cormorants who were just hanging around. The other day they were fishing and it was fun to watch them. Expecting to go on an excursion with southern daughter tomorrow. Looking forward to it. Finally found an excellent woman to cut my hair. Erica lives across the driveway from us and works in a shop on Range in Denham Springs. She gave me the best cut I've had in months - she's a keeper!

Scrambled eggs . . .

Side yard bushes
I always get up in a pretty good mood but today was exceptional. P&D's Pop cooked breakfast for me ; the first time he has used the new gas stove. He likes it and it was a terrific breakfast; scrambled eggs, Vidalia onions and ham with cinnamon raisin toast and Louisiana honey. He also makes a great cup of coffee with chicory. I could get used to this!

The garage/workshop is complete and most of the equipment has already been placed inside. P&D's Pop waited until I wasn't home to drive the El Camino into its parking spot. He shined it up and it looks great in its special place. Within the next few weeks an electrician friend will come to bring the power into the "shed." That's what the neighbors call it, a shed. It seems that you don't need a building permit for a shed so it's a shed and I'm guessing that you don't pay taxes on it either. Pretty neat.

He's off to Independence Park in Baton Rouge to fly and then on to the Hobby Shop while I have to shop for Easter. We'll just be four for a late afternoon dinner of Prime Rib and a few fixin's, nothing too grand - just plain and simple. Time to get my stretches and exercises completed before I face the day.

Another wild day . . .

Started another crazy day before seven this morning when the rebuild men got here and I was just getting out of bed. Now that was a lot of rushing to get dressed and have breakfast. One of the men had to finish the sheet rock under the kitchen sink and behind the dishwasher while one  of the owners made sure he knew what to get for the pads under the carpets and the paint for the living room, kitchen and hall. I've decided to sit in the Dodge Ram where I'll be toasty warm this morning just to be out of the way! The builders are also here for the workshop/garage and P&D's Pop will be off to get new tires on the Hyundai. It seems that I'll get a lot of reading done today. It's been a full week since our minor catastrophe and perhaps we'll be completely back to normal after today. That would be excellent and impressive. I'm guessing the workshop/garage will be complete next week. We're moving right along. May have to go to Dairy Queen to celebrate!

We're back . . .

Spent three nights with our biggest old kiddo and his wife because the sounds of the dehumidifiers and fans were loud and the air being blown around was filled with dust and sawdust from the holes the men had to drill in the cabinets. But we were able to sleep here last night and it felt good to be back home even though it's not back in shape yet. We're waiting on the rebuild men and the insurance to get the numbers right. Hoping it will be sooner rather than later but no matter we're home; it may be inconvenient with furniture not in place but we're doing fine. So fine that I even made some sugar cookies this morning just to see if the new gas oven works! Pleased to say everything turned out great. Have a cardiologist appointment in Zachary tomorrow and I  believe he will find that I am very well indeed. I'm back to walking a couple of miles or for half an hour and then stretches and more exercising. Since it is Tuesday and that was our breakfast day in Connecticut we tried a local gas station cum eating place. For $6.45 or so we both had coffee and biscuits and gravy. It isn't fancy but it was good and the price sure was right. We have not found any breakfast places like we had in the town of Plainfield but there are iHops and Waffle Houses galore. Seems that everyone here just grabs a bite and runs off to work.
